StreetGames cricket season

This Sunday, 6thJuly, young people who have been taking part in the StreetGames cricket season will take part in their own sporting festival.

Teams from across Reading will meet at Palmer Park at 10am.

During the cricket season, attendees have learned a host of new cricket specific skills as well as developed their confidence through sport.


StreetGames Hockey Season

On Monday, July 7th the StreetGames hockey season starts at Palmer Park and Prospect Park.
On Tuesdays sessions will take place at Cintra Park,
Wednesdays at Kensington Road Recreation Ground
Thursdays at Amersham Road Recreation Ground and Courage Park.

The hockey coaching sessions will take place at each venue over the next 8 weeks from 5.30pm-6.30pm.
They cost 50p per session and are open to young people aged 8-15.

Sports Coaching Course

If you would like to teach sports to youngsters then the borough council's Sport Reading Team has the course just for you.

The team has just released the dates for its summer Coaching for Coaches courses, where delegates can gain a Community Sports Leaders Level 2 Award.

The fun and challenging course is due to take place from Monday, August 4th- Friday, August 8th at South Reading Youth and Community Centre in Northumberland Avenue.

GLOBE events

What is the Newtown GLOBE group doing? Sun Street Community Garden is our top priority. The youth group at Sun St have designed the community garden and we are helping them get started. The planting season is upon us and we are keen to see the new garden take shape.
The Kennetmouth greenspace always needs some care and attention and we will be there in Junly

Park United Reformed Church

Food Safety Star Rating Scheme

Reading Borough Council, and others, are publicising information relating to hygiene inspections of businesses that serve, prepare or sell food. There are caveats including a disclaimer that states that the scores "should not be relied on as a guide to food safety."
